FAQ

– details before booking your session

Why do you charge a session fee and why do I need to pay a deposit in advance?

My session retainer fee is pre-paid to reserve your time at my studio or on location.   The session fee covers my time, planning. artistic talent, editing processing and the creation of your images. I create a galley, proofs and a slide show. Finally I will present you with a reveal of your portraits to order.

What should I wear?

That depends entirely on you and what you would like your pictures for.  We’ll chat about that before you arrive.  But generally, all persons attending the session should be in similar casual or formal clothes.  Don’t wear clashing colors or clothes with rude words or logos (unless of course, you really want to).  Little ones might like to bring their favorite toys.

Why should I book a professional photographer?

These days we’re surrounded by images taken on our phones, tablets and compact cameras.  These photographs are great reminders of holidays, events and in-the-moment captures.  With a professional photographer you’ll enjoy the experience of collaborating with a trained professional to portray you, your family or your business as its very best.  I don’t rush by trying to fit you into a 20-minute session, set up standard lighting and take lots of photographs hoping you’ll like a few (this is known in the industry as spray and pray).  I take time to listen to what you want and advise you what to wear to achieve that look before you arrive at the studio.  Once you arrive at your session, we chat further about your requirements and then get to work setting up creative lighting to create photographs with wow that you’ll love.  It doesn’t stop there, we then retouch each individual image before you view.  With a professional photographer you receive a custom experience tailored just for you with outstanding photographic results.

At what stage in my pregnancy should I book my maternity session?

To be honest, the nearer to your pregnancy the better, however, if your baby bump grows quickly any time from 6 months can be suitable.

How old should my newborn be before I book my session?

Up to 7 days is the very best time, as baby is still sleepy, curly and tiny, which can make for beautiful photographs.
